CANDRUMMER
We just purchased 6 Pearl 12x14 10 lug Competitor model snare drums. We are Parade Corps so weight is a BIG concern. They came with a really cheap thin batter head. Any thoughts on what we should use in place? I've heard Remo white max are pretty good. Our previous drums were a mix of 15" Ludwigs and Slingerlands .We used Ebony pinstripes on those.
drumcorpbc
The drums you bought are not designed for high tension heads. They are free-floating drums, but the material used can't handle the stress. Look at the Remo Powerstroke 77's.
