OK I have to say that the Vermont Governor was way out of line shutting down US 89 to Burlington so that only 2/3rds of the corps could get to competition Monday all because our sister corps Nemesis wouldnt attend his campaign kick off last year. Not cool. But the kids bounced back BIG TIME in Hanover and surprised our old pal Polaris Regiment! Looking forward to hosting everyone tonight in Portland. Once again we have an old fashioned lobster bake for winners of all three divisions! Looks like we will be a balmy ONE degree by shows end tonight so the lobster bake will be held indoors at the expo! Also all participants are invited for a friendly Hockey Match after the competition!

IN tonight's line up are:

6:00 Xyothme

6:15 Buckeye Brass C

6:30 Cape Cod Regiment (CLASS)

6:45 The Maruaders

7:00 Scarlet Regiment

7:15 Texas Zephyrs

7:30 Buckeye Brass B

7:45 Les Blanc Chevalier (CLASS)

8:00 BREAK

8:30 Jersey Shore Fantasy Corps

8:45 Buckeye Brass

9:00 Polaris Regiment

9:15 Redcoats

9:30 The Knights (CLASS)

9:45 in exhibition NEMESIS 7 time World Champion and current Silver Medalist from Fantasy Marching Arts

10 awards

10:30 let hockey begin!

here is how hockey will work. The top 8 scoring corps tonight will be competing in a playoff round of hockey. in round one #8 will play #1, #7 will play #2, #6 will play #3, #5 will play #4. We will then continue in round 2 and 3 staying with highest remaining playing lowest remaining. (your score will be determined by your points from the show in real life-not fantasy. Round one will be the 10ths, round two the 100ths and round three the 1000ths from your score for the night. In the event of a tie, we will use the ones placement. for example if Knights score a 99.456--like we should--then round one our score will be 4, round two 5 and when we tie in round three with a 6 we will use 9 as the shoot off)

That was a VERY close show in Portland last night! Both Buckeye Brass and The Knights put on solid performances but it was the midwest corps that eked out a victory over the home-show hosts. The same story played itself out in Open Class, where Buckeye Brass B posted another narrow victory over Les Blanc Chevaliers. Cape Cod Regiment was the bright spot of the evening for the east coast corps, winning Class A by a comfortable margin.

Today we have events at Corbus Field in Vallejo CA (just north of San Francisco), Walter Johnson HS in Bethesda MD (just north of Washington DC) and the largest lineup at Doyt Perry Field in Bowling Green OH.

WOW what a show last night in Portland! Home town corps The Knights came on strong with both of their brother corps Les Blanc Chevalier and Cape Cod Regiment, but had to settle for Silver other than in class A, but World and Open were VERY close margins! Congrats to the Buckeye Brass groups on a great show! Truly for a small show had some of the best corps in the country and Maine LOVED it! We were also thrilled to have Nemesis from FMA as they gave us a preview of their season 32 show Dante Symphony!

In the after show hockey tournament:

Buckeye Brass continued their winning in round one taking out Redcoats 8-6. The Knights wanted a little revenge after their close loss in the corps competition and took it out on The Marauders 6 to 4. Jersey Shore was up ended by Les Blanc Chevalier 0-5 as LBC must have still been pumped by their earlier show! Polaris Regiment and Buckeye Brass B had a fierce battle that ended with a 5 to 8 loss to Polaris.

In round two Buckeye Brass and Les Blanc Chevalier ended regulation in a 0-0 tie! But Buckeye Brass got them in the shoot out 4 to 1. The Knights must hav gotten tired on the night as they went down to Buckeye Brass B 2 to 5.

So Ironically we ended up with the two nights champions going head to head in a final! Buckeye Brass B ended up ripping the the Buckeye Brass 5-0 as they showed their big brother exactly what they were made of!

Great night in the first hockey tournament in DCPI History! fun night as had BY ALL!

Hello out there! We're on the air,

It's Hockey Night tonight;

Tension grows, the whistle blows,

And the puck goes down the ice.

The goalie jumps, and the players bump,

And the fans all go insane;

Someone roars, "Bobby scores!"

At the good old hockey game.

Oh! The good old hockey game,

Is the best game you can name;

And the best game you can name,

Is the good old Hockey game!

Today's events:

Seems like the judges were feeling a bit grumpy across the board as nearly everybody saw a reduction in scores. Must be this polar vortex that has them so upset.

Out west, Fleur De Lis continues their unopposed run through the west coast with a stop at Elk Grove HS on the south side of Sacramento.

In what looks to be a showcase event, Euphony Empire and Star of Jupiter headline a strong lineup of corps at James Madison U's newly-expanded Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg VA. The tall double-deck stands could see this event becoming one of the premier eastern events for some time to come.
