Polaris Regiment - Season XXII Show Announcement

Recommended Posts

The Forward Dynamics music organization from Oregon, Wisconsin, is pleased to announce the DCP-I Season XXII program for their World Class flagship corps... the Polaris Regiment!

Unfortunately, due to a series of real-life traumas I have been unable to complete a poster for this show.

PROGRAM: "Principia"

-- The Garden of Fand by Arnold Bax
-- Overture to a Picaresque Comedy by Arnold Bax
-- Symphony No. 2, Movement II by Ralph Vaughan Williams
-- Cockaigne Overture: "In London Town" by Edward Elgar

Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica, Latin for "Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy", often referred to as simply the Principia, is Sir Issac Newton’s seminal contribution to the world of physics. In it, he explains what have come to be known as “Newton’s Laws.”

Newton's First Law (also known as the Law of Inertia) states that an object at rest tends to stay at rest and that an object in uniform motion tends to stay in uniform motion unless acted upon by a net external force. Newton's Second Law states that an applied force on an object equals the rate of change of its momentum, with time. And Newton's Third Law states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This means that any force exerted onto an object has a counterpart force that is exerted in the opposite direction back onto the first object.

In honor of the man many consider the greatest physicist of all time (and such a genius even Albert Einstein admired him), the Newtonian Laws will show up frequently in our drill and visual movements, and a bracingly all-English score will accompany our tribute to Sir Isaac.

Well, with over 550 CDs of classical music, I have a lot of resources. :)

Which piece was it?

Bax in general actually.

He wrote a lot of very colorful music. Check out some of his symphonies, the last movement to Symphony #1 might be his best work.
