paulie1340
Long time drum corps fan here… back as far as Magnificent Yankees of 1963. I attended DCI West and 2 days of DCI Allentown this year and noticed that a couple of corps have an open MacBook in the pit… presumably active, alive and doing something. No pit member was stationed in front of it. Although there are tons of things computers can be used for in the design and production of a drum corps show its not obvious as to what Mac software would be of use to a drum corps when the show is actually being performed. Sound effects is all I could come up with but I'm thinking there might be much more to it than that. Thanks p
C.Holland
Most often that is a component of the audio system. It houses playback software (some manufactured by, and only for Apple products known as Q-lab or MOTU's Digital Peformer) and effects used during the show. It doesnt need someone in front of it to operate it as many audio consoles can link up to it, or more often then not, there's a trigger remote used to fire each cue. derek.smith
I sorta interviewed the Bluecoats sound tech and he for the most part uses it for sheet music. Instead of messing with papers he uses a sheet music software.
