kdaddy
Speaking of Mendelssohn, I think this would work really well. Not so thematic, regardless of the title.

Which leads me to think... corps have a surprisingly sparse history with violin concertos. I could see the soloist stuff not translating well, but some have great melodies. Oh my goodness, though: Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D. The entire first movement would work well on the field, but that finale... holy smokes. Listen to the last three minutes and tell me it doesn't scream drum corps.

Candid Insight
There is some great music from film composer Miklos Rozsa (1907 - 1995) some of which I don't believe anyone in DCI has ever done. Or, if they have been done it was wayyyyyy back. Most of his best scores were from the 1950s and 60s. Ivanhoe, Spellbound, Thief of Bagdad, Quo Vadis, El Cid, just to name a few. Ghost
Finally getting to last Friday's World Brass Radio broadcast and liked "Supremacy" by the International Staff Band. If my copy is messed up, it starts just after the 36' mark. You might find some other nice pieces. http://www.worldofbrassradio.com/ Edited June 22, 2017 by Ghost
