Yep, that's how I found out about the piece.

From that same show, I would also recommend the ballad ("Song of Joy" by Captain & Tennille) to be played by Bluecoats or BD.

lol

How has no one played anything by Claude T. Smith in over 20 years? I nominate Crown to do his technical, upbeat "Danse Folatre."

Love Dance Folatre.

And I know the Cavies did it way back when,  Festival Variations is a favorite of mine. I feel like it's pretty timeless.

Especially the fugue through the end.

Four Pieces for Orchestra, by Simon Jeffes (1949-1997)

1. Perpetuum mobile

2. Southern Jukebox Music

3. Oscar Tango

4. Music for a Found Harmonium

All four parts are very fine, but nos. 1 and 4 are catchy, too.

(Thanks to David Bratman for a blog post that brought this music to my attention.)

"Folatre" is French for "manufactured difficulty." That was crazier than brass band stuff!

I'm too new to the activity to know if anyone has performed this but it certainly sounds like great material for drum corps.

Thank you.

Given what the Klesch-Harloff team did with PL-C' Heroes, this seems to have Crown's imprint all over it for future possibilities. However, getting Williams' licensing approval for any on the field performances has become rare and quite pricey. That might be the rub..

David Maslanka's 7th Symphony, third movement. I don't care who does it, I'm just glad that his stuff is FINALLY starting to be used on the field after many years of denying arranging requests.
