davidp
An Original Suite - Gordon Jacob Blue Lake - John Barnes Chance Festival Prelude - Alfred Whats-his-name (sorry, it just got away from me; sucks to be me since it's one of my favorite band pieces) Don't know much of the new stuff; I've been out of the loop for a while. MGCpimpOtimp
I always thought Widor's 5th Organ Toccata would be an AWESOME opener. Edited March 27, 2008 by MGCpimpOtimp

Oops. Maybe you already knew that. Edited March 27, 2008 by sdstar

liebot
Radiohead - "Nude" -- Agreed. Also: Radiohead - Sit Down. Stand Up. (at least up until the freakout point.... not sure what would happen then - drum solo?) TV on the Radio - Young Liars Talking Heads - The Great Curve (I actually had a dream where I was in a Crossmen rehearsal and we were playing this as a parade piece. It sounded awesome) Edited March 27, 2008 by TSRTS13
Lance
Here is a link to a MIDI file of the Britten piece I put in my original post. It's all good, but fast forward just a little less than halfway through for the real fun stuff.

Reed. One of my faves as well. Back in 94 the band I work with used it as our opener. Unless you really speed it up far beyond the 'true' tempo, I think that for today's corps it's rather slow, though I do love the piece. JeromeyBush
I dont believe in "should".Play things that are interesting and have elements that spark visual and musical creativity. There"should" not be pigeon holing corps into a certain genre of music. Just sayin'
