Worst Top 12 Corps Ever!

Recommended Posts

The Belleville Black Knights went from a score of 87.10 at the 1971 VFW Nationals prelims to a 75.50 at finals.

I wonder if the "shortened show" format, used at various prelims events back then, contributed to some of the wild score swings like this one.

Just found a really funny score swing from back in 1969.

On June 21 the 27th Lancers scored a 98.6 at the Massachusetts State VFW Championship in Hyannis, MA.

On July 19 they had a 71.7 at Garfield, NJ.

Makes you wonder who judged at Hyannis.

Makes me wonder if it was a field show, or a parade.

Certainly, Carolina Crown is in this category and I saw the 33rd place finish mentioned in several posts. From 33rd, dead last at DCI Buffalo 1990 preliminary competition to DCI World Champions in 2013. Took 24 years (more than that if you count the organizational years with CDCA) but it was worth every moment.

What top 12 corps started out at the bottom, or near the bottom, of drum corps?

I would have to say the only top 12 corps today would have to be Bluecoats. But what other corps from previous years had a not so successful season? Glassmen maybe? Others?

Blue Devils started as a parade corps.
