shofmon88
There seems to be some interesting things happening in Open Class in terms of horn and drum brands that will be used this year. There's some very new players entering the field, and it seems like Open Class is the place where these new products (and some old standards) can undergo a trial by fire. So I thought it may be fun to put together a thread in the same style as the program thread, but for drums and percussion. I'll definitely need help with this, and I don't guarantee that these are 100% correct. 7th Regiment Brass - King, Dynasty Drums - Pearl The Battalion Brass - Yamaha Drums - Yamaha Blue Devils B Brass - King Drums - Pearl Blue Devils C Brass - King Drums - Pearl Colt Cadets Brass - Yamaha Drums - Yamaha Columbians Brass - Drums - Genesis Brass - Kanstul Drums - Tama Gold Brass - Jupiter Drums - Mapex Golden Empire Brass - Jupiter Drums - Mapex Guardians Brass - System Blue Drums - System Blue Heat Wave Brass - Jupiter Drums - Mapex Impulse Brass - Mixed Drums - Yamaha Incognito Brass - Yamaha Drums - Yamaha Legends Brass - Yamaha Drums - Yamaha Les Stentors Brass - Drums - Louisiana Stars Brass - Drums - Music City Brass - Jupiter Drums - Mapex Racine Scouts Brass - Drums - Raiders Brass - Andalucia Drums - Dynasty River City Rhythm Brass - Yamaha Drums - Mapex Shadow Brass - Yamaha Drums - Dynasty Southwind Brass - King Drums - Tama Spartans Brass - Drums - Dynasty Thunder Brass - King Drums - Pearl Vanguard Cadets Brass - Yamaha Drums - Dynasty Watchmen Brass - Mixed Drums - Pearl Edited May 27, 2016 by shofmon88
lawrenceleclaire
Here's a small correction: Southwind uses a TAMA battery but not Kanstul horns. Horns are King. Edited May 25, 2016 by lawrenceleclaire
shofmon88
Done. That's kind of a shame, Kanstul are great horns. King isn't too shabby though.
Florida Sun
you should try the same with all age corps I know a few have switched to System Blue
BennyBassDrum
Heat Wave of Florida is also using Majestic for its pit. We've been very happy with the support and cooperation of the Jupiter/Mapex/ Majestic family of products.
shofmon88
That's good to know, although I focused on the battery, since pits tend to have more of a mix of equipment, especially for corps that aren't as financially solvent. It would be pretty difficult tracking down all the pit equipment brands I would think.

Even with our TAMA endorsement, they are a bit too expensive at our current stage of the game :)
Vance
Incognito is not on Yamaha horns. They have been using mix matched. As of this month, they have collaborated with Ramona high school of Riverrside/Californnia to share Andalucia products, but not their Bb soprano but regular line Trumpets. shofmon88
Fixed. It's tough trying to figure this stuff out from 7,500 miles away. I'm really intrigued by the Bb Soprano. Wish I could play one, but getting one is out of the question given that I'm a broke PhD student, and shipping to Australia is pretty cost prohibitive. Maybe someday.
