N.E. Brigand
Thus after the first day's scores: And we're off on another season. Sadly, even setting aside last year's three international competitors, there are fewer Open Class corps this year than last, because while two new corps were added, Blue Saints, Eruption, and Racine Scouts all opted to take this year to reorganize. Let's hope they come back strong next year and are joined by more new corps as well! Ranked by latest score, with no weighting. Keep in mind all the usual caveats about the dangers of comparing scores from different shows. This initial post will be updated fairly regularly. Replies will indicate earlier standings. As of June 24: 1. 50.20 Blue Devils B (6/24 Fresno, CA) [first show] 2. 50.15 Vanguard Cadets (6/24 Fresno, CA) [first show] 3. 45.15 Golden Empire (6/24 Fresno, CA) [first show] 4. 37.95 Blue Devils C (6/24 Fresno, CA) [first show] First scheduled competition date for those corps with no DCI score as of 6/24: Battalion (7/1) Colt Cadets (6/25) Columbians (7/1) Genesis (6/26) Gold (7/1) Guardians (7/21) Heat Wave (7/9) Impulse (7/1) Incognito (7/1) Legends (6/28) Louisiana Stars (7/15) Music City (6/29) Raiders (7/1) River City Rhythm (7/5) 7th Regiment (7/2) Shadow (7/10) Southwind (7/15) Spartans (7/1) Les Stentors (7/23) Thunder (7/1) Watchmen (7/1) Next shows: Whitewater and Sacramento on June 25. Link to last year's thread for comparison. At Fresno, BDB and SCVC drop five points from their opening score last year, while Empire starts three points lower than 2015. BDC is less than one point above their previous year's first score.
N.E. Brigand
As of June 25: 1. 50.35 Vanguard Cadets (6/25 Sacramento, CA) [+0.20 6/24] 2. 50.30 Blue Devils B (6/25 Sacramento, CA) [+0.10 6/24] 3. 45.15 Golden Empire (6/25 Sacramento, CA) [+0.00 6/24] 4. 37.95 Blue Devils C (6/25 Sacramento, CA) [+0.00 6/24] 5. 36.90 Colt Cadets (6/25 Whitewater, WI) [first show] Next shows: Michigan City and Stanford on June 26. Colt Cadets joined the fray, while in California, SCVC and BDB traded places by increasing two and one tenths of a point, respectively, while Empire and BDC . . . both got the exact same scores from the previous evening. Pretty weird, that.

Pretty weird, that. Was about to say, that is pretty weird. Also, excited to see where Music City debuts, all 11 minutes on the field, and sounding relatively solid for an OC corps this early. DrumManTx
Indeed! But we'll hear from Genesis and Legends first. Ahh, missed Genesis debuting tomorrow. And will love to see Legends this year, adored them last year.
N.E. Brigand
As of June 26: 1. 54.40 Genesis (6/26 Michigan City, IN) [first show] 2. 51.80 Blue Devils B (6/26 Stanford, CA) [+1.50 6/25] 3. 51.15 Vanguard Cadets (6/26 Stanford, CA) [+0.80 6/25] 4. 46.15 Golden Empire (6/26 Stanford, CA) [+1.00 6/25] 5. 38.90 Blue Devils C (6/26 Stanford, CA) [+0.95 6/25] 6. 38.70 Colt Cadets (6/26 Michigan City, IN) [+1.80 6/25] Next show: Dublin on June 28. Is it Midwest inflation, or will this the year Genesis overtakes BDB and SCVC? (The first of whom jumped back on top of the West Coast pack in Stanford--rightly, in my opinion.) A strong start for the Texas corps, on a night scores went up for all O.C. corps. On Tuesday they face off against Legends at garfield's show. DrumManTx
Genesis's opening is incredibly impressive. Opened about a point and a half behind Pioneer and didn't beat them til mid July, and opened up over 10 behind Colts last year. This year, opened 2 points higher in a season where most are lower than last year, 7 pointed Pioneer, and only 5 behind last years 14th place Colts. Very impressive. N.E. Brigand
As of June 28: 1. 55.40 Genesis (6/28 Dublin, OH) [+1.00 6/26] 2. 54.70 Legends (6/28 Dublin, OH) [first show] 3. 51.80 Blue Devils B (6/26 Stanford, CA) [+1.50 6/25] 4. 51.15 Vanguard Cadets (6/26 Stanford, CA) [+0.80 6/25] 5. 46.15 Golden Empire (6/26 Stanford, CA) [+1.00 6/25] 6. 38.90 Blue Devils C (6/26 Stanford, CA) [+0.95 6/25] 7. 38.70 Colt Cadets (6/26 Michigan City, IN) [+1.80 6/25] Next show: Evansville on June 29. Legends slides in right behind Genesis. I was at the Dublin show and saw the webcast from Stanford, and I'm not convinced that Genesis and Legends are better than the California cadet corps, but they do have solid shows. Music City joins the fun next.

A small step back in scores for Genesis and Legends, while Music City slides into the middle of the field. Expect a lot of changes on Friday, when twelve Open Class corps compete at four different competitions, among them nine corps in their 2016 debut: Columbians, Gold, Impulse, Incognito, Raiders, Spartans, Thunder, Watchmen, and in their first ever DCI competition, Battalion.
