skevinp
I literally am so frustrated with people bashing the Cadets because they don't do things the way others think they should. I really hope that all of you who feel it's your job to criticize every thing they do truly never have it happen to you. Pathetic honestly. I'm figuratively sick of the word "literally" being misused.
NakedEye
Herbert Washington and Kylee Hubbard join Michael Townshend to Boston Crusaders from Carolina Crown. Announced this evening and now up on the Boston Crusaders website. http://bostoncrusaders.org/news/ My goodness, Boston has really assembled the best of the best in all areas. It has to be more than just money. All the new hires must have been extremely impressed with all areas of the organization and the future plans. Really impressive. With such a big reconstitution, you never really can project upcoming placement, but they seem to have the pieces in place to attract the talented kids as well, so.... LOOK OUT. Others will probably need more than new staffs full of faded stars to withstand the approaching red hurricane...
KakkoiiOtaku
More from Hop's Facebook page (Direct quote with some cleaning up of the formatting): ( this was sent to the Cadets of 2016 this evening) Dear Cadets Here is the brass caption teaching team. >Drew has agreed, in fact he requested, that he be in charge of the brass caption. This is of course, a change from how Jay and Gino interacted, but … it s an exciting development. >As Drew reminds me, I appointed Drew the caption head along with Larry Markiewicz for the Cadets in 1995. Drew was 24, we took a shot, and well … look at where he is today. And the Cadets of 1995 were pretty impressive. To be able to return is for him an exciting development. >As you can see, Michael Terry will be the day to day brass caption manager. He will be on tour an inordinate amount of time, he will manage the communications and the rehearsal efforts, and he will be in close communication with Drew. >Michael was a member of the Cadets’ Brass Team in 2016. Here is some more information: ( and yes he DID march in the Cadets for 8 years) http://musicbymichaelterry.weebly.com/about-michael.html >I am not going to give all of the detail on the remainder of the staff at this time, abut there is no disrespect to the rest of the team. We will be listing more information down the road. I have a few more announcements and I wanted to get the team out to you this evening as I promised >We will have a conference all this coming week for all brass members and those looking to audition >Welcome all … and look for more details about what Drew and I see as a pretty spectacular team. >The Brass Caption >Caption Supervisor and Brass Arranger — Dr. Drew Shanefield (Alumnus) Brass Caption Manager - Michael Terry (Alumnus) Brass Caption Specialist - Scott Atchison Brass Caption Specialist - Dan Berard Brass Caption Specialist -Branden Hill Brass Caption Specialist - Dr. Aaron Witek Brass Caption Specialist - Nate Holland (Alumnus)
George Dixon
Visual & Program Coordinators Announced - The Cadets Cadets Announce Program Design Leadership The Cadets are thrilled to announce the addition of two fabulous educators to the 2017 design and instructional team. Leading the Cadets Design Efforts will be Dr. Jeremy Earnhart Mr. Sal Salas > As many know, the Cadets have not officially engaged coordinators over the past 30 years. Michael Cesario directed the program from 1982-1986 , but since 1987, George Hopkins, the director of the corps has filled the coordinator role in an unofficial capacity. At times, he and Marc Sylvester worked hand in hand, Jay Bocook often had much to say about the direction of the corps, and Jeff Sacktig, as the drill designer certainly affected many of turns and creations of the corps. But, the coordination was done as a team and was not so much the responsibility of individuals > In announcing the hirings, Hopkins said “ I am thrilled to bring Jeremy and Sal to the Cadets. These folks and the caption designers and leaders will work together of course, but in adding these two positions, we look to better our organizational skills, our process, and our attention to the creative process. The Cadets require more time. The Cadets Require more attention. The Cadets require the best we as an organization can offer. I believe these appointments will result in a much better process and therein, the best product we can imagine” >Dr. Jeremy Earnhart >Dr. Jeremy Earnhart is Director of Fine Arts for the Arlington, TX Independent School District. Educating over 63,000 students, AISD provides world-class musical, visual, and kinesthetic arts programs. From 2009-2013 he was Director of Fine Arts for the Irving ISD, TX where student participation in secondary fine arts increased by over 40%. He was also director of the UIL TX State and Bands of America National Champion L.D. Bell High School Band, serving from 1998-2009. He graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Music and Masters of Music Education, holds certifications in International Baccalaureate Music, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. >Arlington passed a historic $663.1 million bond package which led with Fine Arts initiatives including: $32 million Fine Arts Center, two Fine Arts & Dual Language Elementary Academies, an acoustically appropriate strings classroom for all 54 elementary schools, and $9.8 million for instruments and uniforms to promote student access. In addition to the Arts & Language Academies, he has also created related programming to the bond program including a partnership with the University of North Texas for Dual Credit Music and the nation’s first public/private partnership course in Musical Instrument Repair with Music & Arts. >He is an active clinician/conductor, adjudicator, published author, and presenter for staff developments/conferences including the Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Administrators Conference, Midwest Clinic, National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Show, Conn-Selmer Institute, and Music for All Summer Symposium. Dr. Earnhart is a member of the Education Preparation Advisory Board for Dallas Baptist University as well as the Board of Directors of Music for All. He also serves as a consultant for groups including the 2011 & 2015 National Champion Broken Arrow High School Band—previously with The Cavaliers, Music Coordinator for The Phantom Regiment, and now as Program Coordinator for The Cadets. >Sylvester Salas >Sal's career in the Pageantry Arts has spanned over 52 years, and has not only been diverse, but extremely successful in all areas. Serving as everything from instructor to designer to director to judge, Sal's commitment to youth and excellence has seen no bounds. >Highlights of his pageantry resume include his past position as the Executive Director of the Madison Scouts, his involvement as a judge for Winter Guard International since 2004 (as well as various circuits throughout Wisconsin, California, Ohio, Florida, Missouri, Texas and Illinois), marching band judge, and his role as the founder and director of the five time Winter Guard International Gold Medalist 'The State Street Review'. >Sal's honors include his being named the 2005 Drum Corps International Director of the Year, being a recipient of the prestigious WGI Hall of Fame Award in 1993 and in 2009 inducted into the WGASC Hall of Fame. >Sal most recently taught the Gold Medalist Juxtaposition Winter Guard in 2016, 2010-2012 and 2015-currently, Black Watch (2010-2014), Mechanicsburg High School Open WGI Champions (2011-2016), and is currently Program consultant for the Seven Lakes HS Band and Winter Guard, Clovis HS Band, Clovis, NM (2015), Elkins HS Winter Guard (2015-2016), Black Gold Winter Guard (Design Consultant) and Redemption Winter Guard (Designer). TheyMustBeGiants!
It will go up on the Cadets page (and the website) as well Right now the audition info is lead horse on the Cadets FB page Perhaps "drummergirl" you should quit your job, go find a needy corps, run it for - oh 30 years... find the money, the staff the talent and win oh - say, 10 times or so, plus start one of the largest marching band circuits in the USA, rescue a few other corps along the way AND THEN you can lecture Hopkins about your opinion on how things should be done or not done So tired of the trollish "experts" on this site Let's cheer for the changes in these corps - it allows new opportunity and new fresh blood and an influx of ideas. THESE ARE GOOD THINGS! Take a breath George! You give GH way too much credit my friend!! Everything he does is simply about GH! The organizations you speak of are not running nearly as successful as you may like to think...but I wish everyone luck. It's unfortunate but this has been a long time coming down in Allentown! Hate away if you must, but facts are facts.
