They're just starting to look for a summer vocal instructor now?

Read the post. It's part season due to the instructor getting married.

In the event that anyone gets too excited and begins to over hype the potential of the show, I offer this for your amusement...

Yeah, but I don't think most long term Drum Corps fans are in danger of becoming " overhyped " on a Corps playing something from Leonard Bernstein's " Mass " yet again. Although with the reported choir added to the Cadets show, if its indeed Bernstein's " Mass " that the Cadets will do this summer, this could a new and intriguing twist to their current reincarnation of Bernstein's " Mass ".

The Following Corps, just from the 70's alone, have played music derived at least in some measure from Bernstein's " Mass " composition :

 '74 4th Brigade

'74 Argonne Rebels

'76 Boston Crusaders

 '77 Argonauts

 '78 Ct. Hurricanes

 '83 Cadets ( won their 1st DCI Title with Bernstein's " Mass " )

 '90 Blue Knights

 '93 Senators

 '98 Volunteers

 2002 Cascades

 2003 Magic of Orlando

  2004 Blue Knights

 2009 Reading Buccaneers ( won DCA playing Bernstein's " Mass " )

 2110 CT. Hurricanes

The fact that a resurgent at the time Cadets in 1983 were able to garner their 1st DCI Title with Bernstein's " Mass " is not lost on those who appreciate Drum Corps history. If Leonard Bernstein's " Mass " turns out to be the Cadets music inspiration for 2017 once again, I will be interested in seeing how the show stacks up compared to alll the other renditions and arrangements that its been done before with, including the DCI Title winning one from the Cadets themselves in 1983.

So what you are saying is ...

in the entire LIFETIME of the kids currently marching Cadets, exactly TWO excerpts (Simple Song; I Go On) from a 100+ minute piece, have been played by DCI corps that are actually still around.

Wow ... talk about an old warhorse being beaten to death!!!

[IF that is what Cadets are performing, of course]

No, this is not what I said, Eleran.

What I said is...... well, what I said.

( also, your facts are inaccurate regarding this, but nevertheless, as I said, I'm looking forward to the Cadets revisiting Bernstein's " Mass " once again for themselves this summer, and seeing how it stacks up to others. There is no over the top criticism here with that comment, imo, so don't misinterpret it as such. I havn't seen nor heard the Corps, nor even know for certain if this is what they will be doing or not.) Besides, if the kids are hyped, thats all that matters, and they shouldn't care what I ( or others ) might think on a show right now that nobody knows what it is, nor might be capable of becoming.

My facts are inaccurate?   First, if "facts" are inaccurate, then they are not actually facts.  Second, since I am bored, please enlighten me as to where the historical facts do not support the above statement I made.

'74 4th Brigade - NO CURRENT DCI MARCHER WAS ALIVE AT THAT TIME
'74 Argonne Rebels- NO CURRENT DCI MARCHER WAS ALIVE AT THAT TIME
'76 Boston Crusaders- NO CURRENT DCI MARCHER WAS ALIVE AT THAT TIME
'77 Argonauts- NO CURRENT DCI MARCHER WAS ALIVE AT THAT TIME
'78 Ct. Hurricanes- NO CURRENT DCI MARCHER WAS ALIVE AT THAT TIME
'83 Cadets ( won their 1st DCI Title with Bernstein's " Mass " )- NO CURRENT DCI MARCHER WAS ALIVE AT THAT TIME
'90 Blue Knights- NO CURRENT DCI MARCHER WAS ALIVE AT THAT TIME
'93 Senators- NO CURRENT DCI MARCHER WAS ALIVE AT THAT TIME

'98 Volunteers - DCI CORPS BUT NO LONGER STILL AROUND
2002 Cascades - ONLY EXCERPT FROM MASS WAS "SIMPLE SONG"
2003 Magic of Orlando- DCI CORPS BUT NO LONGER STILL AROUND
2004 Blue Knights - ONLY EXCERPT FROM MASS WAS "I GO ON"
 2009 Reading Buccaneers ( won DCA playing Bernstein's " Mass " ) - NOT A DCI CORPS
2110 CT. Hurricanes - NOT A DCI CORPS

[PS - as to the length of the piece, Bernstein's 1971 recording was 108 minutes]

I'm not interested in getting into a tite for tat, Eleran.  You said your piece above, I said mine above. Thats enough for me on it.
