Wouldn't see a problem if Wine Dark Sea was used again either, IMO it fell flat with the Cadets.

Thinking maybe "RED"line Tango???

Cavies did a great job with Jungle Tango in 2011, why not another?

I also agree that Xerxes would fit as well.

Some predictions based on the show announcement:

The John Mackey piece will be "Xerxes," which IMO pairs really well with the Ghosts of Mars theme.

The Max Richter piece will be "Lost in Space" from Last Days of Mars, which could transition into "The Sun's Gone Dim and the Sky's Turned Black" by Johann Johannsson.

The Laurie Anderson piece will be "O Superman," which could be mashed up with "Mars" by Holst.

 Time will tell !

My bet for the Steve Vai...

Previously used as the basis for the Blue Knights' percussion feature in 1993 (kudos Ralph Hardimon)

Looks like a home run in terms of programming...can't wait to get a taste.

That makes a lot more sense than my guess......and sounds a lot better.  Lol.

I know for a fact that the Cavaliers will be doing a closer of " Somewhere over the Rainbow ".. or maybe it was" Somewhere over the Planet Mars".. I forget what heard now..so I'll just have have to wait and see.

Mackey recently adapted (2017) Movement II of Wine-dark sea (immortal thread, so weak) and called it This Cruel Moon. Maybe ballad section?

God that's a fantastic drum feature.  Can't believe that didn't cross my mind immediately.
