Wow. I never thought I would have to hear Music for Prague 1968 on the field. I am really interested to see how that is arranged

Cadets will be doing Leonard Bernstein's Mass, along with original music by Drew Shanefield, Tom Aungst, and Omar Carmenantes.

I'm glad they shed some light on the process. The Bernstein estate doesn't completely shut down the arrangement and performance of his works. But they are notoriously selective. As I understand it, to successfully obtain rights, you must exhibit that you are going to significant lengths to maintain the integrity of the original works. In the age of "chop and bop" drum corps arrangements and sampling, this was going to be tough grab for anyone, including Cadets.

Looking forward to it.

How do people feel about Cadets show not being Lion King?

A. I knew all along it wasn't (just the rumor of a couple of posts).

B. Prefer Bernstein's Mass!  Lion King would have been too cheesy/not serious.

C. Lion King would have been amazing; but so will Bernstein's Mass.

D. I'm a little disappointed.

I don't think most believed the Lion King rumor.
