Well, SCV hasn't come within a point of BD yet so clearly the judges don't have an issue with visual parts of the show. Maybe that changes. We'll see.

Pasadena 7-1-17

BD 74.50

SCV 73.850

Just sayin'

Disagree.

Their visual program isn't going to keep them from getting a ring or remaining on the medal stand.

It may bother some people too much to where they can't just sit back and enjoy the show though.

I didn't say I didn't enjoy the show.

i said the drill, especially the transitions between segments, was very loose and at times not even there. The transition to the ballad was awful when I saw it last.

Will it change? Yep.

Must it change? Yep.

I am not feeling BD. I just watched a recent vid and I was kind of turned off. Way too much "park and bark" and way way too much intense "blastissimo" in way too high notes. Yeah I like loud drum corps but there isn't any subtlety or any other dimension beside loud and blast. Not a fan of the whole drumset with sampled Shikira and other people interludes. Lots of "follow the leader" and scatter drill and run to your spot drill.

The follow the leader stuff and constant jazz running, pointing and leaning is irritating and confusing. I get that there is a lot of inside baseball with the show, but it seems very loose. Way too loose for BD. Now the playing? Oof. Amazing.

Can anyone tell me why the performance order at the Broken Arrow show? Seems odd for a major non-seeded show. Especially first matchups of the season...

TOC show. They always mix up the performance orders. Basically every corps that's in the TOC will perform in a different order each TOC this year. BD goes on 1st at this show. Next TOC they might go 4th. TOC after that they might be last to perform and so forth.

Just stop watching videos, get out to a show and see them live. Otherwise it's kind of a waste of time. You'll really get no clue of what they're doing watching a ###### video. Yes, I'm an alumni, but I judged brass, visual and colorguard for many years. Any skeptics need to go to a rehearsal and watch from the sidelines to see what's going on. I think you'd be shocked at how much they're doing despite what it looks like on YouTube.

The show is not complete, plenty more to come, so I understand a few of the criticisms. This is basically the best staff and the best batch of closers in the business. They'll be fine, they'll be ready and will have plenty of seamless content by Indy.  They have been able to beat a very strong Santa Clara group all year with a less than final product so far.  That should scare the bejeezus out of the competition.
