brassdude6171
So I was able to see some clips of the hornline playing some excerpts today. Boy they are sounding incredible. I remember being at one of the rehearsals last year and seeing the instructors begging them to give more volume but it is certainly coming easily to them this year. Even with the huge rise in difficulty, they are pulling it off with ease and overall, especially in the trumpet section (which seemed to be a weak link for the hornline last year IMO). Don't be shocked if they not only maintain placement, but rise multiple spots as well. They are SURGING.

Glad to hear that they are having an awesome off-season....just remember though that just because the corps improves significantly doesn't necessarily make the placement automatically go up...I've fallen into that trap one too many times over the years...

DrumManTx
If there is a corps I just flat out want to do well, it's The Academy. Glad to hear it sounds like they're off to a strong start.
BRASSO
Until we know about the Visuals & Guard, listening to the Brass line and Percussion line play in a standstill in the offseason is as insightful to predicting a summers placement as throwing darts under blindfold toward a rotating dartboard with placement positions marked at random on the spinning dartboard. Just sayin'. That said, I appreciate the feedback that Academy's brass line sounds even better than last season to bd6171. DrumManTx
As long as it's as fun, engaging, and easy to follow as last year they could place 23rd or 1st and I would not care. Just keep doin what you're doin with the difficulty/depth bumped up a notch or two again like they've done for 3 years and they'll be set. Michael Kletsch writes such appealing music for Academy ( imo ) that I'd be surprised if I did not like their music this season, no matter where they place. I hope not 23rd, I liked seeing them on Saturday night last year.
