From Kidsgrove Scouts:

This year the Kidsgrove Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps will tell the story of the two star crossed lovers and their feuding families. Our

production is titled "Montagues & Capulets" and will feature the music from Tchaikovsky's "Fantasy Overture" and Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet".

Govenaires Announce Show for 2017 Season … Uncharted: A Lost Relic

Deep in a hostile forest, near the legendary ruins of a lost city, an expedition finds a mysterious object.

Great excitement and wonder comes with discovery of the unexpected relic … until something goes wrong.

For the Govenaires’ 90th anniversary, they will jump into uncharted territory, where constant threats lay hidden at every turn. The 2017 production is an adventure that will launch you into a world where its most
precious treasures are unearthed at a terrible cost.

The show will feature moments of monumental reward and devastating risk. Will the expedition survive the inexplicable dangers from outside and within?
Join us this summer as the Govenaires venture into Uncharted: A Lost Relic.

“People don’t take trips … trips take people.” – John Steinbeck

Musical selections include:
“The Hunt for Red October” by Basil Poledouris
“Lux Aeterna (from Requiem for a Dream)” by Clint Mansell
“Hide and Seek” by Imogen Heap
“Enterprising Young Men” by Michael Giacchino

Founded in 1927, the Govenaires are twelve-time Drum Corps Associates (DCA) finalists and four-time DCA Class A champions – winning in 2006, 2009, 2011, and 2015. Besides competitive success, the corps takes pride in providing a valuable performance experience for its members, and entertaining audiences everywhere. In 2016, the Govenaires performed in China as part of the Shanghai Tourism
Festival.

Just received this message:

"Unfortunately, ALLIANCE went inactive this weekend and we will not be fielding a corps for 2017."

This is sad news indeed.  I hope they will be able to make it back for 2018!
