Nowadays, it's almost obligatory to lead up to a big hit, and follow it with a (sometimes minute-long) percussion feature before the brass comes in again. Back in 2015, Scouts opened up the show with a FFF unison concert G (following the lion roar of course) and kept playing even after the intro to the intro. After the actual intro there was a very, very short front ensemble interlude that led to the baritone feature which then went into a tuba feature and lastly to the percussion feature roughly 2 minutes into the show. Edit: other than that one percussion feature in the opener, the entire intro/opener to that show was all brass. brassdude6171
Boston 12. My favorite show from Boston and my favorite show of 2012 and it has quite a long buildup, but once you get there, dang do they blow.

chaddyt
Cadets 2007 is still one of the loudest corps I've heard live and that opening hit was just that.... a frickin' hit. That said, I'm shocked that I haven't seen Crown 2007 on here yet (unless I missed it.) Did that not usher in the era of the infinity chord?
Chief Guns
Not sure if this counts as a opening hit, but when i think of openers, 2014 BD and that 40 trumpet fanfare is the first thing i think of. Then the low brass comes in...........gorgeous. Hearing it live was an absolute honor.
