As expected, BDB and SCVC move back to the top of the North American corps. I am skeptical that Watchmen, in Sacramento, really closed the five-point gap to Golden Empire, in Shoreline. But we'll know better when those corps meet again in a week. Edited July 10, 2017 by N.E. Brigand

In the midwest shows, scores went up for all corps except Music City, who beat Legends by just one-tenth of a point. A busy week lies ahead, with O.C. corps competing every day except Thursday (when for some reason there are no competitions at any level), with two southern shows featuring only Open Class and All Age corps on Friday and Saturday, and the California corps in three days of competition culminating in the SoCal championship on Sunday. Also on Sunday, The Company has their next competition, in Leicester (their last before coming to the U.S. later this month), so presumably we should expect them to hold onto first place a while longer yet. I think Southwind, Louisiana Stars and Heat Wave are doing an exhibition in Satsuma Alabama on Thursday before heading north to the Montgomery area for an all open class show on Friday. RetiredMusTeach
Re: The Company. I found a YouTube video of one of their most recent competitions and man, they sound awesome! Big brass sound like a WC corps. I didn't pay much attention to the visual because I was just listening to their music while I was working. But I think they truly may be a force to be reckoned with. With all those fantastic brass ensembles they have in the UK, it isn't surprising that they have a great horn line.

With all those fantastic brass ensembles they have in the UK, it isn't surprising that they have a great horn line. Are they shipping all their equipment to the U.S.? Or are they borrowing any instruments while they're here? And are all their members traveling or will we see a reduced corps here? In the Woking performance, I count 34 horns, 15 pit, 13 battery (5/3/5), and 25 guard, for a total of 87. That's already on the small side for a top corps in DCI's Open Class. And I feel that their field coverage at any given time is noticeably less than the top O.C. corps. On the other hand, they sound great (could use less narration, though), and they're already very clean, musically and visually.

Note the spread between Golden State and the others at this, their last meeting, as it will help to give a sense of how Columbians and Battalion would stack up against the California corps when Golden State sees them again later this week. Steph Curry and Kevin Durant are now marching DCI? (You also missed changing the date to 7/10 for the Tri-Cities show.)
