Ghost Posted July 20, 2017 Share Posted July 20, 2017 During the Flo broadcast on the 18th, a poster mentioned that some of the issues might be at our end and you needed around 40MB. We don't have that much horse power so I scheduled a tech for today. They just left and said we should not have any issues. Our "capabilities are fine", our "DL numbers are OK", "plenty of bandwidth", etc. They said that Flo might not be steaming enough bandwidth, the site could be overloaded, or the hosting facility might have issues. Not having a clue what this all means, I just hope all is well for everyone tonight, because if you all start typing about internet and computer geek stuff, it will be Advil time. Honestly, I can't possibly see how that is the case. Flo is streaming a heavily compressed 720p image with some equally compressed stereo audio. Seeing as a native Blu-ray uses a bandwidth in the range of 22-25MBps (and that's for an uncompressed 1080p image and hi-resolution multichannel audio), I am guessing that to be able to stream Flo at the highest quality they provide (which is pretty low by today's standard)....you should be fine with 8-10MBps (I'm being extremely generous here...I bet it's closer to 2MBps). There is no way that it should take more than that for the quality they provide. Now....if you got a whole bunch of other things in the house taking up a lot more bandwidth, then that's another issue. I couldn't be more excited to watch this show online. Having Madison, Mandarins, Academy and Colts all in one show? Crazy exciting. Colts have finally caught on to Academy after creeping up for so long. Can they keep that placement or even gain momentum towards 13/12? Crazier things have happened! Madison and Mandarins have been crazy this year! Haven't them at the same show with Academy and Colts to compare? I'm just pumped! This area of competition is just crazy this year, and I must I enjoy watching these shows over those in the medal range. Finals night is up for grabs! I could see any of these four taking it if the odds are in their favor... (granted, I have my own opinions of what should happen... but that's besides the point). Here's a great show!
