Has the time come?

So... I'm guessing you've never visited the Rutgers University campus.  LOL.

Food trucks... called "grease trucks" by the locals... have been operating, and thriving, there for decades.

"Salt... pepper... ketchup???"

Seriously.... I do understand your point.

I guess I should say, as a business concept. Not as an on campus distribution method.

My Nashville church does a huge event every year, an all church picnic. We put calls out to food trucks that would like to attend. As a business model, both parties understand what the risks and rewards are, and as a result we get five or six great options, each has the responsibility to provide food and they take the risk of over or under preparing. They make money, we don't have to cook or clean up. And our members get great food at a fair price with zero responsibility.

Oh... those are well-established businesses on that campus, believe me. If a given truck is not there on a given day, there's a near-riot. LOL

Again seriously though... I agree with you, that whole concept has really taken off in recent years, basically from nowhere.  Well past the "hot-dog cart as a food truck" idea.

This is not at all what I am proposing. Likening this to a forced soup kitchen and bread line, come on man.

Are you proposing the ability for a few corps to get together on their own accord to share food resources, or are you proposing all DCI corps being required to do this collectively? The first is by choice, the latter is by force.

Dude, I am suggesting an idea that dci members could consider to save money, reduce responsibility, and provide better services to members. That's all. I'm not suggesting anyone be forced into anything. It's a concept members would contribute to and vote on, that's all.

So you would like to see the entirety of all DCI corps to collectively and willingly implement this idea correct?

Stu, give the guy a break.  We get your point.  You're going to drive him to drink.  Yes, I think the entirety of DCI should purchase bulk food under a master provider agreement in order to gain pricing efficiency.  "Squeezing out productivity and efficiency" is about eliminating duplicate effort but it doesn't necessarily mean a degradation of quality.

Mike, go into the bathroom and look into the commode as you push the flusher.  See the water swirling in the bowl and eventually disappearing down the pipe of oblivion?

Yep, this is going to go like that and all drains don't end to the ocean and freedom.  Sometime you get caught in the trap during the swirl and, right when you think the water will subside and you can climb out, Stu flushes again.

Ok, for you I will back off! I just despise collectivism and champion freedom.  And by the way, I do like flushing collectivism down the commode, even if it clogs up the drain trap. :satisfied:

As for a drink; might I suggest a good quality Bourbon like Weller or Bernheim that uses wheat as a second ingredient instead of rye; or Pappy Van Winkle if you can find it and afford it!

True, but my point is that it is not just the bus lease, many other things must also be factored in, and the dues collected from each mm do not cover 'all' of the per/ person cost.

True, and if performance fees did not also increase this would cause a financial short fall. More members but same pay...to feed them just went up from $1200 a day to $1500 to $1600.

50 openings x top 12 = 600 new spots open. That could hurt corps 13- down in member retention.
