kevingamin
And it turns out the flags are swing flags, unveiled as the corps hits the chorus of Toxic (NOT Wrecking Ball, like I thought).
kevingamin
Drum feature to the right of the 50 midfield opens the fourth movement. Four guard members on rifles in front of them. Tubas get another chance to shine right in front of me. Those kids can play!
kevingamin
Hysteria by Muse. Corps hits an infinity symbol before hitting us with their sound yet again.
kevingamin
Brief drum break on the right side of the field before the horns come back in to reprise Creep on the left. Seriously, this is a corps currently seeded in the BOTTOM HALF of Open Class Finals. Southwind is taking no prisoners in 2017, that's for sure.
kevingamin
Next on the field is Impulse from Buena Park, California. kevingamin
Horns and drums doing a warm-up on the field. A little retro. I like it.
kevingamin
Impulse is going all 2001 on us, apparently. The members are now literally acting like primates on the field. No monolith in site, however.
kevingamin
Guard just lifted a member up holding a large bone prop. We are going quite prehistoric here. Low brass plays the open strains of Also Sprach Zarathustra. Little girl in front of me states "I love this one! They have rainbow flags!" If that's all I needed to win fans, I'd have a rainbow flag on me at all times.
kevingamin
Drum line is doing some serious ramming in the early going. And we've discovered fire. No witches burned as of yet.
