Cadets 2018

Recommended Posts

GH posted part of Parents Meeting with him today on corps FB.

"Warm"-ups heard in background from brass and percussion.

The corps did move outside for show and tell. Sunny, no wind.Very nice turnout for first of six audition sessions in NJ and Tx.

For those worrying whether frostbite will inhibit Junior from having a great audition, here's the game plan for today's band championships earlier today in the stadium before Cadets begin at 5 pm.. ( Info gleaned from corps website, GH vids, and volunteered sources.)

https://yea.org/news/1873-usbands-cold-weather-action-plan

Cadets will use the heated indoor lounges, club rooms, and conference rooms for tonight's rehearsal with Brass in the Toyota conference suite. Guard will use the heated tunnels tonight for tosses and other heated rooms for movement. Ditto with the percussion dudes and dudettes. Tomorrow guard will be at a local high school. Temps tomorrow for outdoor drill block around lunchtime are slated to be 48-52 degrees. And then there is next camp in Houston, Texas.

Fear not oh faithful fans of Cadets. FHNSAB...

Gotta say it was very cold warming up in the lot, but our kids handled it well. On the field it seemed a good 10 degrees warmer, actually. Best part for us was the great tailgate party the parents threw for the band. One parent, a huge Giants fan and season ticket holder, has a trailer and all the stuff needed for tailgating. It was a great time after we performed.

USBands did a great job preparing the bands for the cold IMO. Provided tents for individuals to get warm...an indoor warmup area for those who desired it. Sold handwarmers at the Cadets souvie booth.

Curious:  was your student a high school band member?  would that have been the primary age group attending these auditions?

Whatever Mike's student's age, consider this:

A number of Cadets vets were given telephone waivers due to conflicting college band schedules (mandatory for degree requirements) and high school band championships in NJ and elsewhere in the U.S. These vets will audition in person as noted below. MetLife auditions were both for Cadets and C2. C2 is primarily comprised of h.s. kids.

Cadets will continue with auditions next weekend in Texas and again in December. Total of 6 auditions for Cadets.

C2 will also hold auditions at Delran H.S. Thanksgiving weekend.

Corps lines for both corps set by January. Who comprises which line would be better answered then.
