Yup, it’s in there. Just a tiny snippet, but it’s there.

Which is interesting.

I seem to recall that it was integrated throughout the show when the OTHER opener was in place...so I guess they just left it in there...not a big deal...

They left in several snippets. It adds to the idea of chaos

I am very proud that Cadets have weathered the storm and seem to be doing well.

I will say.......the guard is weak.

I am not sure you can assess that the guard is weak from that angle and the little we saw. Yes they have a lot to clean. The key question is how much do they add to the program to bring the show to life (as opposed to just spinning 100mph) and do they get their moments?

Well, I'm glad to say that I am REALLY looking forward to watching this show progress. This may be the first time in a LONG time that I may actually buy a preseason CD (if they still make those?).

You dinosaur!

If they are or if they aren't, I hope they improve throughout the season.

I don't know how easy it is to evaluate that in preseason when there are so many rough edges in the performance in general, but as long as the guard members have the skills, there is probably the most upside potential in guard.  Considering that the recruiting of the guard was going on during the media circus and the changeover of director impacted this area in particular, it's not surprising that it might take a little longer to round into shape.  It's hard to make people better marchers or better musicians in a short time, but you can clean up the guard if you have good instructors, good drill and good athletes who work hard.  And not for nothing, but Crown medaled last year with a guard that did not seem on par with the other top 5 corps.

Dan Acheson drove over from Indy to Ada and took selfies with the mms and to give his encouragement. He very much liked what he saw and heard.  He didn't bring Gatoraid but when he does, the mms will present him with his favorite breakfast food: bacon.
