Their score last night was reflective of that. They are going to need to get super clean which I hope they can do. Then next season the guard needs to find its personality again. Both in terms of writing and staging so they have their ‘moments’. The drill has figured that out for drums this year but not so much for the guard - and that must be impacting their scoring potential. Yes, this is true, The writing is the best it's been in a while BUT they need to be clean and look confident, they need to have a mature confidence, it is all there and in other areas, it seems they are right up their competitors butts. IF the guard staff can do this and the MMs of the guard Cadets will or could be the biggest wild card of the season.

I agree regarding the confidence thing, huge for them this year (and any year) theyve got to clean, and for some odd reason I think they will get it done this season and really get that confidence performance level going vs survival guess we will see over the next couple weeks Edited July 6, 2018 by George Dixon

Do you think that losing the caption head in the spring has anything to do with the guard being behind?

It put then behind and I know they got a very tough score last night; however just watching them rehearse in nova they will finish a better guard this year than last - the work is just so much better designed watching crown now- guard is ahead of cadets considerably but it’s not the Crown guard or a couple years ago; probably a fourth place type guard the brass line is just playing with so much more volume than cadets and such a centered sound cadets battery is much better as a whole than crown, but crowns snareline is very solid and their pit is really good cadets have to build the brass line sound and really clean the feet to draw their score closer to the group ahead of them and as we know the season goes quick these days crown has the better drill but not by miles; I don’t think Jeff’s style fits as well with crown - however I personally prefer Cadets musical arrangements just watching Crown I get the vibe they will be the fourth place corps this year with BD SCV and Coats in the medals if Cadets clean they could join Cavaliers and Boston in the next tier, but they need to whittle the gap quickly and did I mention CLEAN particularly visually

First of all Crowns battery is probably their best line ever and I think Jeff's visual design fits Crowns very well this year. Crowns Brass and Percussion is top 3 this year. Also, Cadets horn line is not even close to Crowns horn line so stop ragging on Crown.
xandandl
This autumn will mark two years since DCP posters convinced another poster to audition for Cadets. He's become a model mm on and off the field. This year he even has some solos! His mom also posts on DCP and should continue to be super proud. His talent and showmanship are outstanding. His work ethic and gentlemanliness are to be admired. DCPers, take a bow.
FTNK
A strong, competitive battery, an improved guard and of course much better show design is positive progress for the season even if they don't improve much in placements overall

Chill. 90% of what I said about crown was positive, better pit, better snares, better brass, better guard, etc.
