George Dixon - do you think it is fair that an organization that has a competitive Drum Corps and runs a band circuit should be able to hire DCI judges? Maybe there should be a rule against that?

not like it helped the corps

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Drumscorpsplanet: the only place on the net where you can burn through 35 pages without ever once addressing the topic. Either we are really good at tap dancing, or full of something...

That's cuz we have no material.  They've put us on double-secret probation until after Labor Day!

Ok, while we are marking time, does the planet realize that Dan Acheson's two year term is up for vote this January 2018.

Does he stay, does he retire after 22 years, should he stay, should he go?  I like the man and think he's been a calming influence and bridge between the various egos. His response to Regiment at the fatal bus accident is what I want for a face of the activity, not just the numbers acumen for the bean counters. His intervention for the mms of Teal in Glens Falls is another example. What say you?

I think Dan is probably about my age.  Around 60 or soon to be.  He seems pretty happy in his work so I'm guessing we'll get a few more years of his leadership.

Judges have been working with bands, corps (before rule changes) , which is totally acceptable. I see your inference, meaning Cadets. Most judges at some point have an affiliation with a corps. I have many friends that are judges that have been/marched/taught corps in the past. It is a small field for quality judges.

All we can do is respect that the judges are impartial. LOL In a perfect world.

I have no problem with judges having an affiliation. Again, small world. All I ask for is no bias.

If what you are referencing, again I think your point is aimed at Cadets. Actually, judges that do YEA shows, do it for the love of the activity. TRUST me, they actually lose money personally. Between flight, room, food. They actually basically lose money during a judging a YEA show.

So no, I have no problem.

Actually I think SSF means being able to hire a DCI Judge that was judging during the current season and from all accounts was pulled from panels for questionable numbers....

While we're at it, how about Cesario being in charge of the judges for so many years all while being a head designer of uniforms at FJM and designing uniforms for many competitive drum corps.. conflict of interest?!?  I'd say so...
