KVG_DC
All statistical analyses for the championship have boiled down to pretty much same thing for the last decade--- BD v. the field. Not that it's not exciting to see the tours play out of course, but that's pretty much the championship. The in/out line for finals is where to look for the excitement most years.

Yeah, BD is definitely on one of their long rides at/near the top. While no one has been as consistent as BD, Cavies and Cadets have had such dynastic periods. Star of Indiana was poised to be a dynasty before they split. The huge vacuum left by Star opened the door for the "second coming" of BD. Yes, I agree, the 12th place cut off has volatility and excitement. I'll have to create a graphic showing the revolving door of 9th-18th.

Bluecoats Their trajectories definitely suggest that, even though my gut is not entirely feeling it that way. The smoothest recent trend lines appear to be BD, SCV, and Cadets. BD is maintaining. SCV has been on a long climb. Cadets appear to be steadying a ship that could go either way, but is likely at/near bottom and ready to climb (similar to Crossmen 2008-2012).
