CrownBariDad
From their FB page: “As of September 1, 2017, Thunder will no longer field a drum corps. Thunder alumni should take great pride in their performances and experiences in the corps over the past 13 years. To many, it is home but although the house may no longer stand, the family that grew up within it will always be strong. We encourage alumni to join the Spokane Thunder Alumni Facebook page to stay connected. It takes a great deal of support from the community, educators, volunteers and alumni to keep a corps on the field and the board of Greater Spokane Drum and Bugle Corps Association does not feel that there is adequate support to consistently continue to field a corps in the Spokane area. Greater Spokane Drum and Bugle Association is debt free and will continue to use our assets to support music education and the marching arts in the Spokane area and the Pacific Northwest in the future."
lcarlton
Very sad. I enjoyed their 2015 show, and shows in the past.
cmchandler
That's a shame. It's always good to see drum corps growing and sad when it doesn't work out. I'm glad their org is healthy and sticking around, at least. Maybe they'll come back later.
DrumManTx
Loved that 08 show, remember watching it back when we still had the Fan Network and being blown away by the quality from such a small group. They will be missed. Maybe down the road the time will present itself again for them to field.

While it is sad for a corps to retract like this, the fact that the association is debt free shows that they have been, are, and likely will remain a very responsibly ran organization. They could have easily gone the direction of Teal Sound, Revolution, the recent VK, ad infinitum. But they apparently decided to make a sound business decision; and good for them for doing that. Best wishes to all in Spokane.
