How about limiting staff sizes. Top 12 staffs out-number the size of corps in the 60's and 70's. Ratio of staff to members is getting insane. Staff transport, food, logistics, etc. is crazy and all those salaries increase costs also!

It's not insane if you have 150 members on the field. Majority of staff are not designers. Just technical staff who are probably not getting paid a lot except for experience and something to put down on your resume. Some eventually move on to become caption heads and designers but they have to start at the bottom.

more competitive LAYERS - ie: a third championship division

it allows corps other than the very top bunch to compete for a championship

even fully expanded the USA can really only support around 6 top tier organizations - the rest just compete for 7th or 8th place

anyway - the idea of expansion to 200 or so allowed is to allow more creative freedom, increase the product's impressiveness and scale and finally - most importantly - encourage greater participation

and adding a new upper level totally then takes away the focus and attention on the lower two. Plus then you get into pissing contests for voting power, fees allocations...

basically all the stuff in the G7 proposal

Why stop there?  Make 40 divisions, and everyone can compete for a title!

Seriously, creating additional competitive divisions just so that there are "more winners" is not a good enough reason.

especially when the idea proposed shows the probability of furthering the haves from have nots ( or the can haves if emailing people enough)

More medals for everyone too!  Gold, Silver, Bronze, Platinum, Brass, Aluminum, Copper, Lead, Tin, Stainless Steel, Cast Iron, Magnesium.  Everyone can leave happy.
