oh i forgot about Wave!

I learn something new in Drum Corps every day. Today, I learned that Florida Wave went just shy of 30 years of consecutive years of competitions in their former existence. From 1959 to 1990. I never knew they were able to stay in the game for that long..Good for them.

Two that come to mind for me might not be my favorites but they rank up there as most inspiring.

Les Eclipse 1985? 14th place - They started out the season scoring in the 30’s and ended up in 14th.

Les Etoile 1996 div ll champ, 15th place in div l - they slayed the div ll giant Pioneer who was set to finish out a three year undefeated streak. Les Etoile poured in on in div ll finals with an absolutely electric performance. One of the all-time great performances that I’ve witnessed.

1980 27th Lancers.

1981 27th Lancers: a potentially better show than 1980 and may have been the show to bring home a title had it not been for the challenges off the field.

1979 North Star

1977 Holy Family Defenders of Rockland, MA. They were a local favorite for Boston area folks. They were always crowd pleasers. I can remember at the time wondering why they did not fare better since they were so loud. Keep in mind I was 14 at the time and what made a good corps was what the audience liked and who was best at "How loud can you get?"

1977 Kilties: not their best year but it was the first time I saw them live and did not know it was not their best year.

1988 Sky Ryder's: "The Sound of Music" perhaps my favorite feel good show of all time.

1987 Star of Indiana: another feel good favorite.

1980 Bridgemen: the corps I loved to hate because they challenged and sometimes  beat corps I loved: 27th, BAC, North Star, and as we called them in the Boston area "Gaaahfield," a show as not a show without the Bridgemen and secretly I enjoyed them a lot more than I ever let on.

My father marched with St Vincents in the mid- to late-50s and a friend of mine marched with Magnificent Yankees (found this out recently, and he also was at Ithaca which was my first Championships)...

Thank you!  I was afraid Teal Sound wasn't going to get any love.
