glory
An unfortunately simple list for me breaks down like this: A lot: BD and Cadets A little: Blue Knights and Bluecoats The rest I am content to forget, which makes 2017 an unusual year for me. Usually, I'm watching 10 of the 12 regularly and all of the 12 occasionally. Not last year. HH
cowtown
Last year left me flat too, I’m more inclined to spend time with previous years. Usually, I enjoy most the shows more after the season and repeated watching, this year it was the opposite, I liked them less the more familiar I became with them A few corps that bored me in the season were better than I credited them with so they got a few extra initial spins but that was mainly the CD and not the video. I need a good show year to drag me back in, haven’t even bought a ticket yet for this season
MikeN
Bluecoats - whole show Cavaliers - whole show Blue Devils - from the ballad on (I skip straight to 4:30 in) SCV - ballad ... that's pretty much it for me. Mike

Glad that the A/V folks were able to pull from different performances to make the vocals sound good for the CD. And I can only barely tell when listening through studio headphones, through speakers I would never hear it. I wonder why they just did not use Thursdays show for the recording? From what I remember there were not any issues. When they try and mix different nights, you can tell with the layering that they are splicing. Maybe they want to make sure to capture the finals crowd, etc.

But I’ve noticed that it is the most appealing show to listen to of the top 12 for one reason: the show is predominantly acoustic. They have the least synth bass of any corps, so listening to the recording doesn’t strain your ears like most other corps. (I listen to the lossless audio files through a DAC and headphone amp with a pair of Sennheiser HD6XX reference headphones. Anything weird in the recordings is very obvious, and synth-heavy shows are riddled with pops and snaps of amplifiers that the on-field microphones pick up. The Blue Stars recording is very clean.) It also helps that the music and arrangements are just darn good too. Their mellos...dear GOD their mellos throughout the whole show. Reminded me of mid 80s Cadets.

Mike I do that with BD too On the CD, I really notice the compression on corps that amped the entire horn line, it’s beyond the normal DCI compression and blows the musical dynamics. Bluecoats are the worst offenders, for their closer they drop everything way down. There also seem to be some phasing in BD’s but I think that is performance based, could be bleed on the mic though
