Lets face it. This could have happened anywhere. Not just at drum corps. Kids can get exposed to this anywhere. Ive seen no less than 6 local band directors/ assistant band directors brought up on child rape charges in the last 10 years. So that one time at band camp??? Yeah it could happen anywhere.

Yep. For instance, the high school marching band that placed third in Bands of America's Grand Nationals in 2016 had just seen its director let go earlier that year when it was revealed there'd been an incident at a school where he previously taught.

"Per sources: George Hopkins has resigned amidst sexual assault allegations. Tom Aungst named new director. Official announcement to come." not sure how true this is but its going around.

Saw that....makes a lot of sense to finally have a CEO (Sean for now) of YEA and a separate Cadet director (Tom, theoretically). Two good choices, IMO.

Might be better in this moment in time, to have two different people running each entities.

Curious on how much the Cadets will change with a new director in the coming season.

Hopkins gone yet?  Or placed on leave out of an abundance of caution?  If not, why not?

if it's even one 16 year old,  it's pretty revolting to see people react with "it was more of a workplace sexual harassment issue."

Whether you understand it or not, it's a mitigating statement you're making.

And furthermore, nowadays, "mere" sexual harassment will often get you fired.

As long as the BOD is still in place, Hopkins could very well still be running things from behind the scenes, even though he has “resigned.”

There needs to be a completely new BOD that isn’t in his back pocket.....
