That’s not his responsibility.

Well sitting here and talking about people isn’t good either, especially if you don’t know them very well. The Morrison’s are great people and I could assure you that nothing has been ignored. The Crossmen policy about sexual harassment and sexual misconduct is strongly enforced. But starting topics about this stuff is going to hurt the drum corps community more than a newspaper article. We aren’t the last either. More stories are sure to come out from other corps. So do we gossip about them or let the actual corps and DCI board of directors take action on what to do. The opinions on these forums don’t matter anyways but if you had decent common sense and courtesy you would stay out of things like this and keep it too your self.

How about instead of sitting at your computer and bad mouthing him you go talk to him yourself?

For those who wish to do so:

fred.morrison@crossmen.org

There's no phone number on the Crossmen contact page:

http://www.crossmen.org/staff

And no contact information for the board of directors there either.

There is contact information for caption heads on that page, but I don't think they deserve to be inundated.

This was posted on drumcorps Reddit.  It provides a timeline for clarity:

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The article is about what happened on tour with a staff member AND his prior license loss. It's brought up twice in the article. The second time even with copies of the texts to the underage student.

The article is calling into question why the Crossmen allowed this man to be hired in the first place as well as continuing to keep him on staff (paragraphs 4-5)

2010: Florida high school teacher Moody is caught texting inappropriate messages to one of his underage high school students and loses his teaching license (paragraphs 1-3, paragraphs 15-18, including pictures of the messages)

2011: Moody was hired to work with Teal Sound, whose staff knew of his past sexual relation with students (paragraph 19)

2012: Moody is hired by the Crossmen. (paragraph 21)

2013: Crossmen director Fred Morrison learns about Moody's past and continues to keep him employed (paragraphs 35-36)

2014: Morrison continues to side with Moody when questioned about his past (paragraphs 38-39)

2015: Moody hires a 22-year-old woman and her (later) boyfriend and berates them the entire summer (paragraphs 27-34)

2016: Moody hires a different 22-year-old vet and gives unwanted attention (paragraph 23)

And probably the most important part: two staff members feared that both the corps director and his wife would side with Moody and dismiss  their claims (paragraphs 25-26 & 32)

If Crossmen employees are uncomfortable coming forward out of fear of not being believed, why would any student do so?

This is a helpful summary. Thanks.

And here is Tricia's Part 2 of that tweet.

Joel Moody may have been forthright with Fred Morrison and the Crossmen, but were Morrison and the Crossmen forthright with members and parents about Moody's past prior to this article's release? Note that Nadolny's next tweet reminds readers that Genesis's director says that Moody told him recently that he was going to be touring with Crossmen this summer.

I noticed when all of the craziness with Hopkins/YEA come about a month ago, the Xmen camp was very quiet.  Now I know why!!! Just sweep everything under the rug and it will go away.

When is "recently?" A few days ago? Late April? That would seem to be a prudent detail for a reporter to have found out before publishing. Sorry, but when so much is at stake, those little things that reporters sometimes do bother me.

Not sure why that matters. Are you saying it would have been OK for Moody to tour with Crossmen, and OK for Morrison not to have told members and parents about Moody's past, before the Hopkins news  broke in early April?

But in any case, that information is actually in the article, just not in the tweet, so your response suggests you haven't read the former. To wit:

"Moody, 39, who also did not respond to repeated interview requests, last week told the director of a nearby corps he plans to be on tour this summer, per usual."
