HI all -- total DCI newbie here -- but looking forward to the Prelims / Semis / Finals in a few weeks! Any recommendations on places to go, things to eat, and beer to drink 'round Downtown Indy? We won't have a car so we'll be walking and ridesharing during our stay. Thanks!

If the weather is good military Park is very nice and that's where all the corps warm up before they perform and they usually have a free shuttle bus to take you to the stadium from there.  If you need to take a break from food and drm corps years ago I took a tour of the Indianapolis Speedway about 20 minutes away from downtown by car I'm not a racing fan but I did enjoy myself quite a bit

Is Webers Grill restaurant still in downtown Indy?

Yep.  I always stay at the Embassy and the smells of Weber permeate the lobby.

Shapiro's is pretty awesome, huge menu and only a couple blocks south-southeast of the Can. Ram is pretty decent, St. Elmo's is nice but pricy. They have a Giordano's up near the circle as well. Late night drunk food...White Castle (ugh), Steak and Shake, and a place called Hotbox Pizza that's open till 4 am Thursday-Saturday. Hotbox Pizza is actually pretty tasty but it's mostly a takeout place.

Awesome -- thanks! Nothing wrong with late-night, takeout pizza ;)

I was in Indianapolis about 3 weeks ago and they now have a SUGARFIRE!  Its a great BBQ place right between Capital Grille and Rockbottom - I am totally going there once (or ten times) during the week.

Barbecue -- not many authentic BBQ joints here in Hawaii -- looking forward to trying some. Thanks!

Looking forward to checking out the Speedway, if we can fit it in. Thanks! Appreciate the heads-up re: Military Park as well!

Sugarfire is a franchised St. Louis BBQ joint. Being from KC, I won't lower myself to that type of "BBQ"...but carry on. :tounge2:

The wife and I (Cheryl and Kyle) will be in Section 341 Row 1 - all three days. Probably wearing SCV gear.

Section 435, Row 2 for me. Kinda glad to be higher up, you can see the whole thing

I usually sit in mid sections everywhere. But when I watch Flo high cam, I wonder if I should sit higher.
