I agree, Phantom Regiment is the overall winner. I have always loved the alliterative poetry of the Santa Clara Vanguard. And I have a soft spot for the Seneca Optimists in their sunshine-yellow uniforms.

My all-time favorite is The Muchachos. To my early adolescent self, the name (and their 1974 show) sounded indescribably cool. But my wife, a native Spanish-speaker, always laughs when she hears this, as to her ears, it just sounds like "the guys."

Ah yes, I agree with you on Santa Clara Vanguard. It just rolls off the tongue and has a regalness to it.

Les Chatelaines de Laval  The All Girl corps with the most unusual uniforms ever.....The first corps to use chairs as percussion instruments.  When they clacked the chairs closed it was like a bomb going off in Olympic Stadium

Les Chatelaines. Agreed. Needs a picture.

Some NY/NJ metro area names from the past:

Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Orbits

So I saw that one too, but I was really confused by it. Was the church called "Our Lady of the Miraculous" and the corps called "Medal Orbits"? Was the church the whole name? Why "medal" and not "metal"? What's a "medal orbit" relative to a "metal orbit"?

Originally of Willingboro, NJ, I believe, from '66 - '84, after which they continued as color guard only and continue today in WGI

You probably got the state they were from correct. I had to think back and try and guess on several of them.

I thought a miracle would've kept them going, but alas,  it was not to be.
