Our first corps of the evening is the 2018 Drum Corps International Open Class champions, the Vanguard Cadets from Santa Clara, California. Their 2018 program is entitled "Off the Wall" and consists of:

Bicycle Race
Sounding Board
Fly to Paradise
Rebound

It's actually weird seeing Vanguard Cadets spend all this time on the field before performing, but being first on and performing in exhibition, what's the rush to get set up?

Nice body movement by the corps during their opening statement. The jumpsuits are a very unique look, especially with the Vanguard marching technique. Also fun hearing Bicycle Race quoted throughout the show.

The show has four stages that are also pushed together to form larger stages. Right now, they're a full stage and the trumpets are getting featured on it. The stage also moves all over the field providing, well, staging for various features throuhgout.

Nice laid back groove by the corps during the opener, followed by a side by side tradeoff between upper and lower brass.

Second movement. Pit playing Bicycle Race as the corps transitions. Percussion is now behind the stage pieces with brass split into two groups, one on the left, one on the right. Guard is in the center doing body movement to techno sound effects in the pit. Horns join in on the dancing.

Stage is pulled apart and the percussion spills forth!
