00BlooSop Posted August 12, 2018 Share Posted August 12, 2018 I signed up for this forum just to discuss the following: I've seen some posts about how much field isn't being used this year, etc. I propose it isn't a visual decision, but is actually a musical one. With the current audio set ups, having a corps spread out wouldn't translate realistically to the speakers (think Four Corners, etc). I think corps are getting smart about making sure their hornlines are behind the speakers when cranking. This may also be why horn pops to the box have utterly disappeared - you would overshoot the mics. I recall a few times watching SCV last year when the sounds were coming from a place where the members weren't... it's a bit disorienting. Thoughts?
