Include tickets, souvies, travel and hotel for major shows, Season Pass, APDs, DVDs, etc, sponsorship of members, support of corps, sponsorship of DCP, Friends of DCI, etc...

I thought it would be interesting to get a general sense of how much this activity costs some people.

If you would be willing to break it down, it would be even more interesting, but if you don't feel like disclosing, don't.

Travel to Dubuque, hotel, meals, etc. $500

Travel to Omaha, NE, tickets, meals, etc. $300

Travel to Columbia, MO., meals, tickets $300

Travel to Dubuque, hotel, meals, tickets $300

Travel to Pittsburg meals, tickets $300

Travel to Giants Stadium, tickets meals, etc. $200

Travel to Foxboro hotel, meals, tickets, etc $3,000

**This doesn't count money spent so #1 son can march with a DCI Corp***

Sigh.....it's only money...we can always make more...but kids and parents cannot have this kind of experience but a few times in a lifetime. And we are PROUD OF OUR KIDS!! YOU ROCK!! DCI ROCKS!! This is a great, great organization for musicians and guards !!

My theme song? "What I did for love."

Our family will spend well over $6,000 related to DCI this year.

Spent just as much last year.

Doesn't include the money our son would have made had he been working

the last 2 summers.

I'm not complaining though...just glad we are in a position to afford it.

I consider it "education" related expenses...just wish the IRS did.

$1,500 membership fee

$1,200 air fare to weekend camps

$1,000 air fare family to finals

$ 180 car rental finals

$ 400 hotel finals

$ 450 tickets for finals

$ 250 tickets to other shows

$ 250 air fare to non finals show

$ 150 car rental to non finals show

$ 300 gas

$ 40 Season Pass

$ 24 APD

$ 200 souvies

$ 129 2005 DVD/CD

$ 100 donation to corps

Columbia, SC:

85 (2 tickets, gas, food)

Salem, VA:

175 (3 tickets, gas, food, lodging...but my dad's paying :), so =0)

Foxboro, MA:

300 (2 tickets, gas, hotel, parking, food/souvies...does NOT count the places I'm stopping to/from there, it will be a 5-6 day road trip...that would bring the total to more like 600)

APDs = 20-25

Cadets 3-peat DVD = 30

= 440-445 (more around 750 if you count the whole Boston trip)

And this is on a students' budget! :)

Doing some quick math, I know I'm forgetting something, I'm sitting around $1700. It's actually less than I expected..... Although I've been light on souveniers so far. I try and be good and not buy a bunch of t-shirts I'll never wear, but I always end up going hog wild at Championships. :)
