Finals & Grand Finals

Recommended Posts

I was looking at the website for next week's world's and I noticed that Div. II/III is having a "Finals" on Thursday and a "Grand Finals" on Saturday. What's the difference? There's sort of an explanation on the website, but I don't really understand it. Thanks!

I *think* the purpose of it is to have a separate D3 champion and D2 champion named on Thursday, and then both divisions are judged together on Saturday for the "Grand Finals" of D2/3. It's almost like the quarters/semis/finals scenario for division 1, except in what would be the semi's stage, there is a d3 and d2 champion. In finals there is only one champion, no matter whether it is division 2 or 3.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.

But to my understanding, they're awarding separate division medals on Saturday as well. I'm only guessing that it's a more fancier way of saying semi-finals and finals.

I didn't like it last year, and I'm not liking it this year... but that's just me.

Were you the one going to your first show a few days back? How did it go? :)
