Less "Yowza" tonight?

Recommended Posts

Is it difficult?  That's all a matter of opinion.  Since there is little actual playing sustained music, melodies, harmonies, etc. - just lots blasts or notes here and there followed by power chords, squeeling trumpets and more chords - it's hard to say it's "clearly" the most difficult show on the field.  And the guard does not do work for over a 1/3 of the show - milling around, dramatics, running around.  Let's see a show with some work, and then perhaps we can say whether they "clearly" have the most difficult show on the field.

They are talking about the Blue Devils not the Past 5 Cavalier Shows.

Blue Devil's show is easily the most difficult on the field. And it is one of their most innovatively designed shows.

Everyone needs to get over the narration. Everyone else's narration is much worse. e.g. Taco Bell.

In general I am not a fan of narration, but the persistance of the Blue Devil Narration made it difficult to appreciate anything else going on around it. I enjoyed certain aspects of their show and kudos to the kids for perfoming well.

They are running all over the field constantly. Exposed = difficult. They play plenty of long melodies. And they do play chords and long sustained notes(since when was that hard) WHILE running all over the field.

FYI Most corps' guards don't do work for a decent portion of their show.

Should I take this one ??? Blue Devils guard this year was easily their least effective least exposed guard book since 1991.

There were no ensemble moments, sans theopening statement, nothing in th eway of actually bringing the audience into the mix, no connection at all with the audience. The Guard, ironically didnt tell any story of this concept, it wasnt even exploited or used to effect.

Can you actually recall any of the work ? Too much individual design , small group design, choppy, unfinished segments and no dramatic effect whatsoever.....there was none of the variety of style that BD has been famous for, no drama, no suspense, no set up and release.ans when they did emote and try to fit in with the concept ? The "acting" was terrible, sophmoric, and not nearly worthy of this superpower.....How bout the little things ? horrible uniforms, said nothing about the dance derby era, ugly, unimigainative, uneffective silks.....once again, hoping for more, getting a lot less and having to accept it.

No, there were plenty of guards that night that id mouch more, had more content, more exposure and decent emotion.......oh yeah, 4th in guard ?? lowest since 1989 if Im not mistaken.
