Ryan H. Turner
I just did a quick perusal of DCP and didn't see this announced. Up on the World of Pageantry board it was announced just now that Alfred Reed has passed away yesterday. Sad day... :(

zachariaswmb
It is truly a sad day for music. Alfred Reed is and will continue to be my favorite composer for wind ensemble. :( Edited September 19, 2005 by zachariaswmb

Toby
The music world lost a great man. Frederick Fennel (sp?) last year, now Reed this year. :(

scouttimp
I was a punk 18 year old when Alfred Reed was a guest conductor of my concert band at CMSU. I asked him about Drum Corps playing his music, and he spent 5 minutes telling me about working with Phantom in '84. A class guy, and a great composer. RIP.
