Wildabeast
I had dinner with him & his wife at the WASBE Conference in 1999 (San Luis Obispo, CA.). I ran into him again in 2000 at the Midwest Clinic. Very nice man. As with Fennell, the Midwest Clinic will probably have a time to celebrate the life of this man. Michael Boo
Thanks for the update. I hadn't heard about that until now. He was a titan in the world of wind music. Incidentally, he told me a couple years ago at a convention that he wrote Russian Christmas Music for his military base band in less than two weeks. Amazing. CrunchyTenor
alfred reed tribute show in '06? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As long as he's the only "Reed" on the field! My wife has great memories of the day he spent with Regiment. They played "Armenian Dances" in the arc for him first. He was floored. Then they put him up at box level and moved it. Amazing. PCOP_trumpet04
I suggested a piece in the thread for ballads. This news brings new meaning to this extremely powerful piece. It's called "Giligia (A Song of Remembrance)". Here's a link to a short clip: Giligia (A Song of Remembrance) :( RIP, he was truly an amazing man...
