European Championships...

What with DC in Holland, France and Germany seeming to be taking off a bit more again, and DCUK stronger than ever... don't you think it would be cool to stage a EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP... kind of like the World Champs format at Millwall, England in 98...

Imagine Senators, SA, Cadence, Encore AND the rest of the excellent DCUK open class up against Jubal, Beatrix, Juliana and the German corps... I know Jubal and Beatrix would have the age advantage, but if it was later in the year the DCUK corps would all be well up there with more demand and technique etc...

That'd be cool... 30 odd corps, floodlights... beer afterwards...

That would be absolutely spot on. Perhaps it is time for Jill and the gang at DCUK to give it serious thought. I think that seeing Southern Aurora, Beatrix, Cadence, Jubal and Encore at the same show would be incredible. Put the European Championships in the new Manchester City Stadium and the party is on!

Hi,

There WILL be European Championships in 2003! Next year Drum Corps Europe will feature its first outdoor season, with European Finals in The Netherlands. We hope to welcome many corps at the DCE Finals.

A brochure about the competition will be sent within a few weeks to all European drum corps. More info can also be found on www.drumcorps.nl (click on the British flag for the English version).

If you have any questions, please e-mail me at marco@drumcorps.nl.

Thanks :)

DCE outdoor competition sounds cool, but only if there are many corpses competing. Maybe the outdoor season was a good idea, but not for the growing of small corps, they never can compete on a football field with Corps like Beatrix, Encore, Aurora, Jubal,...And so they never get experience in competing in Drumcorps Competitions, maybe you should do a few indoor competitions, so smaller corps can also compete.
