Sorry to belabor the point, but does anybody know whether or not SCV put their new ending in their show last night? If they ended in the center of the field, the answer is no. If they ended by marching directly off backfield, then the answer is yes.

Thanks for the in-depth, fair, honest reviews of each corps. Hope to hear more of the others very soon.

i was at the show last night but didnt get to catch SCV and Cadets because i was in the lot talking to other Memphis alumni. but i do have a question if anyone else was there. i heard something about a Cadets drummer (snare i was told) looked like he got shook up and then just marched to the sideline and stood there for the rest of the show. anyone know anything about this?

SCV did the tag ending.

I'm not sure what happened to the Cadets snare drummer who stepped off the field.....

Great night of drum corps though!

Two relatively interesting things in SCV's show last night that I forgot to mention. . .

1. They definitely did the "off the back sidelines" ending. . . and the closing intertwining drill was wonderful! We were taking bets on whether the brass soloist would crash through the cymbals "V". . . but they enveloped him, and left the field last. Really neat, and classic SCV "class" move.

2. In the middle of the show, the stadium PA came on with a DCI commercial. . . they killed it after maybe 5 seconds. . . and some folks mentioned that was the best use of amplification all night. Snickers ensue. . . for what it's worth. Myself, I was impressed that the composure of the corps never waivered in the slightest.

best,

Chuck Naffier

PS: I saw some loose sticks during Cadets' show, but did not notice any injuries, etc. But. . . again. . . there was a lot to look at. . .

A good friend of mine marches trumpet for the cadets this season. He told me that the snare on the end that was supposed to catch the stick had lost feeling in his arm before the show had even started. He told me it was due to either his harness or his jacket, probably a combination of both. The snare player made it as far into the show as he could before he couldn't play anymore and had to leave the line. No worries though, the guy is fine and will be performing again in the next show. Go Cadets!!
