Martybucs Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Those of us that marched those years, (1979 & 1980), and won DCA never received a ring for winning the championship. We got some nice momentos, but no ring. If you marched those years and are interested in purchasing a DCA championship ring, please reply to this post with some way we can contact you. Also, if you are still in contact with friends that marched, ask them to get in touch. I think the price would be determined by the design and also by the quantity ordered. If I had to come up with a ball park figure - I think a nice ring would be about $500.00 or more. A lot of money, but to those of us that marched and won, it was a big deal. If enough people respond favorably, I would like to set this up with the corps, so it's all official, and perhaps we can get the ball rolling so we have something to impress the grand kids. There is also a post similar to this on the Buc Boards, in the "WHERE ARE THEY NOW?" post; look for the ring thread, and you can sign in there if you wish. Quote
CorpsBuff Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 1980 was one of the best hornlines in DCA history top to bottom. Quote

Buick Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 I watch 1980 Buccs all the time on my anniversary DVD what a show! and George Parks is equally as impressive (and estatic ) Quote
Martybucs Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 It was a fun show. Seahawk - what a killer - but fun to play. If you know anyone that marched from those years, please tell them about the possibility of getting championship rings made. Quote
VOReason Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 1980 Bucs were the best senior corps I've ever witnessed and THE best senior horn line EVER! And before anyone debates, listen to the recording. I still don't see how in the world they lost in 1981 either, but that is a topic that has already been beaten like a rented mule... Quote

They were super but I still have to give the best Hornline ever to the 1972 NY Skyliners(just my opinion). Actually 1972 was a loaded year for many corps. Great Drum corps by many that year. I was also very impressed with the 2007 SF Renegades Hornline. Wow. Its all good, I would love to have played with any of them, if the opportunity were there!
