friceox Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 So, I was just wondering, now that Phantom Regiment is finally back on it's feet from a financial standpoint, has there been ANY talk about bringing back their cadet corps the Phantom Legion?? They were doing great right up to when they folded the corps, and I know it created many members into the Regiment (they had kids that had 10+ years with the organization) I'd love to see them come back, and I think it would be a great corps for those kids who are deadset on only marching Phantom....we all know those kids are out there. goldingna Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 I think it's pretty safe to assume that they'll never be back. I know that they were a huge financial drain on the "A" corps. It wouldn't make fiscal sense to start them up again. Quote
shostahoosier Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 If they were to return...they probably would be little more than a local parade corps. Maybe Regiment could start a "very cadet" corps for the young YOUNG kids in Rockford. Otherwise...Cadet corps ARE a huge drain...I'm amazed that the Blue Devils manage to have 2. Quote
baritone9172 Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 It would seem silly for Regiment to add Phantom Legion back to their organization because they JUST managed to get sorta, kinda financially stable. I do not think they would jeopardize their financial status so soon and add another program. IF they were ever to add it back though i would say it would be in 7 or 8 years while finals are still in Indiana (i forget how many years finals are there, i am just guessing). They could manage to put together a cheaper tour. It obviously costs a lot of money to have an additional corps on the road but if they could minimize the cost because of where finals are located, that is a bonus. I doubt this would happen anytime soon, if at all. Quote
Tom Brace Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 Book it. Zero. No chance. Nada. Never. Not going to happen. Um...ever. Phantom Regiment put their performing drumline (RPM) on hiatus two years ago. It wasn't making the finances necessary to remain active. All of their programs must be at least financially neutral or they go inactive. This is what I've understood from the Rockford people I talk with. Legion was way...I mean way far from financially neutral. And it provided more members to Pioneer than it did for the Regiment in the last five or so years. Quote
friceox Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 well i wasn't asking if they were coming back like next year or anything. Quote
CSGreen Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 PL is truly missed, I can't imagine they would ever be back under the PR umbrella for the reasons already mentioned. Of course, if they were a separate entity in DCI or DCA.. never know Quote

Of course, if they were a separate entity in DCI or DCA.. never know How can one just wrestle this from under the PR organization? It won't happen. It is an inactive organization under their charter. However, knowing the situation as I do, anyone willing to part with, oh let's use a round number...$250K? That would most likely be enough to sell the naming rights to Phantom Legion. Just a guess.
