Galen Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Providence is pleased to announce their DCPI-X production, "The Road Ahead" Life is a journey, from one point to the next. People travel the Road for many different reasons. Some franticly try to get from place to place. Some travel slowly, enjoying the journey. And some travel just to travel. But the Road serves all, and carries all, regardless of their motive. At the beginning of the journey, there is the eager desire to depart, to see new places, to set out on the Road. Sam Hazo's "Ride" serves as the literal and figurative vehicle that propels the corps on the beginning of their journey. Tension. Frustration. Delay. Breakdown. All these things can appear as distractions on the Road, causing stress and taking away from the enjoyment of the journey. Michael Daugherty's "Pedal to the Metal" brings the frustrations and struggles to the field as the corps is forced to cope with delays and the stress of the journey. Reflection. Looking back, seeing where you've been. Writing to friends about your journey. These help the travelers overcome the worries, the doubts they have about their journey. Pat Metheny's "Letter From Home" helps ease the tension and help the corps reconnect with their sense of peace and purpose, and enjoy their journey for what it is. Arrival. Finally, the journey is complete, the Road traveled. The corps looks back with a sense of appreciation for their journey and the distance they've traveled. Ron Nelson's "Rocky Point Holiday" helps the corps conclude their journey, with one eye eagerly looking forward to the next and the other fondly looking back on the one completed. Quote
