brassomaniac Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 (edited) Hey, Frank Ponzo put one of these up!! soo.. not to be out-done by our friends on LonG(hard G) Island.... Capital Brass! will make a return trip to DCA Rochester next week, fresh off of a busy spring and summer for the 20 month-old corps: CB! proudly represented MCA at all 3 of the Spring I&E shows in Garfield, Bayonne and Bridgeport, coming home with 4 Gold Medals in Mini-Corps & Brass Ensemble. The corps performed a full concert to open the Lake George Community Band Festival, also opened the Adrirondack Drums DCI show and made a return engagement at the Saratoga Race Track. Our brass quartet performed Sacred Music for the Franciscan Solemn Profession of Vows in Chicopee, Mass last week. On a more traditional note, CB! earned the American Legion State Title in the Drum Corps category at the recent State Convention, in Albany. YEP! We MARCHED and played Patriotic music! And in September, we'll be hosting the first-ever MCA Mini-Corps Championship, in Albany. At Rochester, we'll be presenting: - a brass quartet performing "My Funny Valentine" - our brass ensemble on "The Brass-O-Maniacs: A Cartoon Symphony" - and in Mini-Corps competition, Capital Brass! will perform, in a Big-Band style: CB!'s BIG PHAT mini-corps Show! "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" - a modern update of the campy sci-fi theme ... be vewy, vewy quiet... we're "Hunting Wabbits" - Gordon Goodwin's original tribute to cartoon music "Hey, Pachuco" - driving dance number from "The Mask" Hope you all enjoy! brassomaniac Posted August 28, 2008 Author Posted August 28, 2008 (edited) Final rehearsal, last night. Basically, just a run-thru of the Quartet, Brass Ensemble and Mini-Corps shows. Then: done. ... sent everyone home early. We're a bit smaller (by 2) this year: 6/2/6/1 and 2 perc. But, the show is much more demanding (and interesting, I think). And these guys really brought their games up to pull it all together. Hope everyone enjoys our little show! Good luck to all the I&E participants! Edited August 28, 2008 by brassomaniac Quote

Tom ... best of luck to you and CB! in Rocheezeter ... I am thoroughly impressed by your devotion to the Mini Corps movement and applaud the extra effort your crew puts into actively attending the I&E shows that were et hosted by the BHOF, Sky Alumni and Bridgemen. Amoskeg Sound is to be commended also. Lots of travel to get to the venues. Hopefully, this spring will offer more sites and more shows. Bring it up at your MCA meeting - okay? Anyway, all the best to all the mini's ... too bad I can't be there ... but, I'll see you later in September at the MCA Championships in Albany ... WOO HOO!!!
