Using this year's quarter-finalists, what would you like their repertoire/concept to be for 2009? I know there will be other corps that will be in world, well, hopefully, and hopefully all of these corps will be back, but just for fun? AND-do you think it will come true

Blue Devils-"A Tone Parallel to Harlem" by Duke Ellington

The Cavaliers -"Fantasia" utilizing music from "Fantasia" and "Fantasia in G" by Timothy Mahr, even though they have played it.

Phantom Regiment-"Concert" with Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini(again), Keith Emerson Piano Concerto, and Gershwins "Concerto in F"

Carolina Crown-"Beatles Collection" I would LOVE to see these guys tackle arrangements of Beatles tunes as done by the Kings Singers

The Cadets-Bernstein! Chichester Psalms, Kaddish Symphony, Missa Brevis

Santa Clara Vanguard-Metropolis Symphony by Michael Daugherty

Bluecoats-Football Show

Blue Knights-"The Sword and the Crown" by Gregson

Blue Stars-"Ellis Island" by Peter Boyer

Boston Crusaders-Patriotic Show

Glassmen-Heroes Symphony by Philip Glass

Madison Scouts-A Don Ellis Show

Crossmen-The Grand Canyon by Grofe

Colts-The Music of John Rutter

Spirit-Mamma Mia!

Troopers-"The North and the South" Civil war era, but with a modern kick

Pacific Crest-Music composed strictly by rock bands that hail from cities on the West Coast

The Academy-David Holsinger's Ballet Sacra

Mandarins-Music from Toshii and Matsu

Pioneer-Tam O'Shanter Overture by Malcolm Arnold

Just for fun.

A big yes to Fantasia, just the Disney stuff alone could be an awesome show for Phantom.

Unfortunately due to licensing issues the Beatles are a no fly zone for corps.

Didn't Bluecoats play Beatles tunes in the early 90's? and Kiwanis Kavaliers have as well, have they gotten more stingey than they used to be?

Yes and Yes.

Kiwanis isn't included on the 2003 DCI media.

I really like those picks for the most part, but there are a few things:

Crown doing Beatles:

Kiwanis learned the hard way in 2004? 2005? that playing Beatles tunes is more trouble than it is worth.

SCV doing Metropolis Symphony:

Yes plz.

Academy doing Ballet Sacra:

Cadets did this music in 1993 and Capital Regiment did it in 2004. Not out of the question, but might be a little played out and/or suffer by comparison.

Cavies doing a "Fantasia" show:

I'm assuming you mean the Disney movie Fantasia? Good music, but I think the rep would fit better with Phantom than Cavies. Then again, it would be nice to see Cavies go in a new direction...

Boston Patriotic show:

The 2002 show was a patriotic production...might be too soon.

I kinda hope Cadets actually use part of the Age of Anxiety symphony. And the Bernstein Concerto for Orchestra (part of 2006 closer) deserves another look IMO. If it's just a WSS/Candide/Jeremiah rehash, I'll barf.

Great thanks, just was looking for people to post what they would like to see, but I guess I need lessons in my picks.

I just watched Sorcerer's Apprentice on Youtube, and I really want Phantom to do it. Talk about a shoe in for the Spirit of Disney Award.
