Pemberton and team return for 2009

The Crossmen are pleased to announce that Darryl Pemberton will be back with the corps in 2009 in the dual role of visual design as well as the Visual Caption Head. He is accompanied by the majority of the talented 2008 visual team including Caption Supervisor Aaron Barnes.

"We were so fortunate to have a visual staff in 2008 that was so dedicated and talented. They were determined to make sure that our kids were trained and set for success" said corps director Mark Chambers. "It is great to have almost the entire team return as it will provide consistency that will help us to continue to improve in 2009".

Darryl Pemberton has spent over 20 years as a member, technician and a designer in the drum corps idiom. He marched the Garfield Cadets from 1988 - 1995 and became a visual technician for the corps in 1996. Darryl served as the Visual Caption Head for the Cadets from 1998 – 2001 and became the visual designer for the Crossmen from 2002 – 2004. After a short break from the activity, he returned to the Crossmen in 2007 and in 2008 assumed the role as the visual designer. Darryl has also designed for many high school band programs and winter guards throughout the country and is currently the Visual Designer and Color Guard Director for Lady Bird Johnson High School in San Antonio, TX, where he resides. Darryl attends school at The International Academy of Design and Technology where he is moving towards his degree in fashion design. "With such a successful season last year, I am extremely excited about getting back to work and getting the new season underway."

In addition to Darryl and Aaron Barnes, the returning team includes Cheryl Lee, Tony Rideout, Brian Smith, and Mike Clifton. Kyle Bourdon will be joining the team as a new addition for 2009.

Look for an announcement of the 2009 Design team as well as percussion and guard staff additions soon!

Great staff and a great addition with Kyle. Another awesome move by the Crossmen keeping this team in place. You don't find many better instructors or people in the activity. This is fantastic news for Bones!

I am very glad to see such a great staff returning and working together again. I can't wait to see how things shape up for this corps in the coming season with such consistency in the staff from last year to this year. Hopefully it will be like that with the membership as well. I wish the corps the best of luck in the coming season(s).
